Mary Beth Ellison, President-Elect, AMA Foundation

Mary Beth Ellison (she/her) is a lifelong Ohio resident and currently lives in Fairlawn, Ohio. She is an active AMA Alliance member currently serving as the Alliance president-elect. Mary Beth also is the Ohio State Medical Association Alliance currenting serving as the OSMA vice-president and is a board member and immediate past-president of her local Summit County Medical Alliance.

Prior to devoting herself to family and volunteer activities, Mary Beth was a certified medical technologist and at the Cleveland Clinic and Children’s Hospital in Akron. Her passion for service developed during the child raising years and her new title became “volunteer extraordinaire.” She has been a board member for the North Coast Bernese Mountain Dog Club and Mobile Meals in Summit County as well as a member of the North Coast Hosta Society.

The entire family has participated in rescuing Golden Retrievers and Bernese Mountain dogs and were successful puppy raisers for Pilot Dogs in Columbus which provides guide dogs for persons with blindness. The family pet, a Bernese Mountain dog named Nash, is also a volunteer and he partnered with Mary Beth visiting patients in Hospice. 

Mary Beth is married to Richard Ellison, an Ophthalmologist and currently vice-chair of the Ohio delegation to the AMA. In addition to four adult children they have two beautiful grandchildren.
